Sunflower meal is a by-product obtained in the production of
vegetable oils, after pressing and extraction of oilseeds. Pressing is the
process by which oil is squeezed out of sunflower seeds. And extraction is the
release of residual oil after pressing the seeds with organic solvents. As a
result, in the meal after pressing, the residual oil is at the level of 4%,
crude protein at the level of 35-36%, amino acids and methionine, which
favorably affects the growth and development of young animals. Meal is
indispensable as a high-protein additive in the production of animal feed for
poultry and livestock. Contains vitamins E and B, fiber, natural proteins,
potassium, phosphorus and other minerals.
In terms of its
energy value, sunflower meal is rich in niacin, riboflavin, choline, biotin,
pantothenic acid and pyridoxine. In addition, sunflower meal is an excellent
source of vitamin E.

Product value
The value of such granules lies primarily in the fact that
they contain proteins that are characterized by very high biological activity.
In this regard, rapeseed meal is superior to both sunflower and pea or bean,
the most popular among livestock breeders at the moment. The energy value of
this type of feed is close to soybean meal.
The diet of farm animals should include feed containing a large amount of protein. Otherwise, pigs, cows, etc., will not gain weight well and will start to hurt. As a result, the farm will suffer significant losses. One type of protein feed is sunflower meal.

industries.
Meal Sizing/Pelleting
Sunflower meal for local markets is ground and sold as
“loose” meal, while sunflower meal for export markets is generally pelletized.
The main purpose of pelletizing the meal is the increase in bulk density, which
thereby reduces the storage and transport cost of the sunflower meal.
Pelletizing also increases the physical stability of the meal and increases the
possible storage time before consumption.

How to use
The main outlet for sunflower meal is the animal feed
market. Sunflower meal is a valuable protein source for various
species/categories in livestock feeding. However, specific restrictions in
animal feed are taken into consideration such as the maximum incorporation
rates, the species concerned or r nonprotein compounds.
In its pure form, this type of feed is usually not given
to farm animals. Most often sunflower meal is included in the composition of
various feeds. Quite widely, this additive is used mainly by large and
medium-sized agricultural enterprises. In private households, the meal of this
variety has not yet found particularly widespread use. However, some owners of
farmsteads such a product their animals still feed. In this case, cows, pigs,
etc., also usually get it with feed.
